Sustainability

The Nationale-Nederlanden San Silvestre Vallecana is, without a doubt, everyone’s race. And that also means running for the planet we all share. Every step counts towards leaving a greener footprint — that’s why we keep moving forward towards a more sustainable Vallecana.

The Vallecana organization carries out many actions every day to reach this goal, but among the most important we can highlight:

100% Recycled T-shirt

Thanks to El Corte Inglés and its sportswear brand Boomerang, the official race T-shirt is made from 100% recycled fabric. A garment that proves style and sustainability can go hand in hand.

Less Plastic, More Recycling

We reduce single-use plastics and strengthen recycling points throughout the race. We only need your collaboration: please dispose of waste in the appropriate bins.

Electric Mobility

Our JEEP vehicles will be electric ⚡🚗, thus reducing emissions and ensuring that the energy on December 31st comes only from you and thousands of runners like you. These vehicles are charged at our facilities using self-consumption systems and green energy provided by Contigo Energía.

100% Green Energy at the Nationale-Nederlanden San Silvestre Vallecana Mini by Contigo Energía

In 2025, we launch a new Sustainability Partner agreement with Contigo Energía, ensuring that the children’s race — held on December 20th at the Vallehermoso Stadium — runs entirely on 100% green energy. The batteries used will be charged at our facilities with self-consumption technology and certified green energy from Contigo Energía, which holds CNMC’s Guarantee of Origin certification and an A label confirming its renewable source. Another step forward in our commitment to reduce the race’s environmental footprint and promote a cleaner future for the youngest runners.

Responsible Refreshment Points

We take care of every detail so that hydration points generate as little impact as possible. Stay hydrated and recycle!
